| A dystopian vision of a future in which humanity is forced to go underground because of a cataclysmic event, possibly nuclear holocaust. Even though the culture is technologically advanced, their limited resources have forced them to accept an artificially limited lifespan which sentences them to death at age 28. To insure order, everyone has an age indicator embedded in them at birth which alerts the authorities when they are to die. It also allows them to be tracked and killed should they try and escape to a mythical surface world where they can be free. | ||||||||||||||||||||
