| The "sequel" to 2001. It's impossible to judge this film on it's own merrits. The difference between this film and 2001 is the difference between driving in a meaningless run of a route in the pre-season, and scoring the winning run in game seven of the World Series. There's some decent space sequences, and if 2001 had never existed, it would probably be a decent film. The problem is, 2001 does exist. This film takes the entire point of 2001, crumples it into a ball, tosses it in the trash, thinks about it, takes it out of the trash, uncrumples it, smooths it as best it can, and adds another sentence. What the hell is the point? |
